PARKHAVEN POOL NEWSLETTER

The City of Cote Saint-Luc and the Parkhaven Pool Staff welcome you, the Patrons, and look forward to the continuation of what has been a great season so far.

POOL RENOVATIONS

Prior to the merger, the City of Cote Saint Luc allocated funds for the renovation of the pool locker rooms, the addition of our new recreation offices and the construction of our new gymnasiam. We also will be landscaping the entire area and installing the long awaited Basketball and Volleyball courts that will only be accessible  by pool patrons.

CLUB ENVIRONMENT

In our effort to provide a club environment many improvements and additions have been made.  Your City Council has created an official Pool Committee who meet regularly to insure the best possible use of our facility and the highest level of service.  Your co-operation and respect for our staff and the rules, which insure your safety and the general welfare of our community, best reward our efforts.

For the first time ever our membership allows members to use the other bourough pools when ours is closed.  We have access to Hampstead and Montreal West Pool in our pre-season.  In addition Parkhaven will be open weather permitting every weekend in September for the first time ever.  This in effect has increased our pool season  by one whole month.

Our opening Members Bar-B-Q took place on June 19th and at the same time our new Gym and facility was officially named in honor of General Manager Jim Butler who served our community for more than 35 years.

We instituted the use of  lane ropes to allow more flexibility during adult and free swim, so that those who wish to do laps and those who wish to play can do so often at the same time.

Our wadding pool is re-opened and we are keeping our children’s swim area in the big pool aswell.

We are have encouraged  use of our interior green space for games by the children and organize activities including our most popular Bingo during the 4.30 adult swim.

We have scheduled our Family Party Night for August 7th  2003 and once again we will have a great time, with a Bar-B- Q, evening swim and movie and dusk.  Our  Fun Weekend is schedule for August 15th to 17th  where we will have an inflatable slide, floaties accepted all weekend, pie throwing contest, races, contests, games and prices and much more.

Our guards are also available for birthday parties and of course private swimming lessons when they are not on duty. Please call 485-6821.

SWIMMING AND SAFETY

Teaching swimming and safety has always been our main priority.  This summer we are providing lessons 5 days a week for both residents and camp children.  We offer stroke improvement, terrified of water and aqua fitness for adults.  Aqua Fitness is held Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 18.15 to 19.00.

We would like to form a Pool Social Committee of Member and have scheduled Tuesday July 8, 2000 as the date for our first meeting.  We will meet at the Pool at 17.00 in the Picnic area. We will discuss the possiblity of organizing additional adult and child events at the pool.  Please confirm your attendence with Cornelia Ziga at Recreation at 485-8651.
