THE JIM BUTLER PARKHAVEN POOL NEWSLETTER
The City of Cote Saint-Luc and the Pool Staff welcome you, the Patrons, and look forward to a great season in 2002. We are most fortunate to have our pool manager Cornelia Ziga and assistant manager Claudia Pittarelli return for their 5th year as managers. In addition, most of our terrific lifeguards have returned and will provide our members with the outstanding service they have become accustomed to.
POOL RENOVATIONS
Prior to the merger, the City of Cote Saint Luc allocated funds for the renovation of the pool locker rooms, the addition of recreation offices and the construction of a gymnasiam. In addition, volleyball and basketball courts will be built next to the pool and gym for next summer's season. These improvements will benefit the residents of our borough for many years to come. We hope you all enjoy them.
CLUB ENVIRONMENT
In our effort to insure the continuation of our club environment we need your involvement in our Pool Committee more than ever. The Pool Committee meets regularly from April until September to insure the best possible use of our facility and the highest level of service. Your co-operation and respect for our staff and the rules, which insure your safety and the general welfare of our community, best reward our efforts.
For the third year in a row our Pool is open from the first weekend in June and it will remain open until Labour Day September 2, 2002, increasing the Pool season by one whole month.
Our opening Members Bar-B-Q and Evening Swim is scheduled for Wednesday June 19th. We hope you will all take advantage of this opportunity to get re-aquainted with our staff and your fellow members.
We shall continue the use of lane ropes to allow more flexibility during adult and free swim, so that those who wish to do laps and those who wish to play can do so often at the same time. In addition, last year we purchased a robot vacuum, which has allowed us to free up morning pool clean up time. We now therefore, are able to institute an early morning master lap swim from 8.30a.m.-9.30a.m.
We also have encouraged use of the new green space for games by the children and organize activities including our most popular Bingo during the 4.30 adult swim.
On Wednesday August 7th 2001 (rain date August 14th) we will be having second annual Family Night Event. For the bargain price of $5.00 per adult and $2.00 per child we have an evening packed with entertainment and fun. Festivities start at 6.00 p.m. with a Bar-B-Q and face painting, 8.00 p.m. Free swim, Tots activities and a Movie at dusk with popcorn and cotton candy. This is an event not to be missed. Last year over 300 people attended and a great time was had by all. Tickets are limited, so reserve early with the Pool cashier.
We have scheduled our Fun Weekend for August 17th and 18th where we will have, Total Entertainment, an inflatable slide, floaties accepted all weekend, pie throwing contest, races, contests, games, prices and much more.
Our guards are also available for birthday parties and of course private swimming lessons when they are not on duty. Please call 485-6821.
SWIMMING AND SAFETY
Teaching swimming and safety has always been our main priority. This summer we are providing lessons 5 days a week for both residents and camp children. We offer stroke improvement, terrified of water and aqua fitness for adults. Aqua Fitness is held Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 18.15 to 19.00.
BEST WISHES FOR AN ENYOYABLE SUMMER.
