BROWNSTEIN GALA: Mitchell and Herb Brownstein, partners in the highly successful Brownstein and Brownstein immigration law practice, threw a large gala last month to celebrated the Chinese New Year. It was also Mitchell's 40th birthday. Singer Guy Bouchard belted out some tunes and coordinated karioke for the more than 100 guests who dined on hors d'oeuvres and a buffet from Adam the Caterer at the Hotel Du Fort. There was a dance performed from the Chinese community Centre and a surprise Belly Dancer for Mitch's birthday, Then Brownstein introduced Miglena Pashkova, Bulgarian native who thanked the firm for helping get her family members to Canada during a difficult time when she was fighting cancer. Photos were being snapped by Harold Perlman and by Doug Dawson of Laurentian Productions. Mitchell a Côte St. Luc city councillor, even sang an ELTON John song (Latitude) but changed the lyrics to reflect the benefits of immigration to Canada. Israel Consul General Shlomo Avital was on hand, as was Beryl Wajsmann from Liberal MP Irwin Cotler's office and Côte St. Luc Mayor Robert Libman and members of council.
