Dear Mr. Brownstein:
On behalf of the Government of Canada, I am pleased to invite you to join the upcoming Business Development Mission to Poland being organized for January 24-26, 1999.
Poland will have soon completed a decade of democratic and market reforms and is one of the major success stories of Central Europe. Our goals in Poland, on the eve of its accession to the European Union, are to underline and reinforce that country's economic success and to position Canadian companies for current and future opportunities. The World Bank forecasts strong economic growth for Poland in the first decades of the 21st century and Canada's geographic and economic profile make us an excellent business match for Poland's new market economy.
Coinciding with the official visit of Prime Minister Chrétien, this business development mission will showcase Canadian companies with active interests in Poland and the region. A programme of business seminars, sectoral meetings and hospitality events will be organized with both Canadian and Polish senior business leaders to enhance your knowledge of the local market, encourage links with local firms and increase prospects for bilateral business cooperation.
Business development missions are proven vehicles to capitalize on existing markets. They create unparalleled opportunities to network with overseas contacts, advance negotiations and move forward contract closures. In fact, surveys have proven that these missions open doors in key markets and assist participants in meeting their business objectives. I have every confidence that this mission will provide you with an excellent opportunity to exploit the exciting new opportunities offered by this emerging market and will increase your prospects for bilateral business development.
The enclosed invitiation package provides more information with respect to the mission and includes forms which are required for registration as a business delegate. The cost of this mission is $2500 per participant and includes all aspects related to the business programme excluding airfare and accommodation. The Poland Mission Task Force of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade is ready to assist you in preparing for the mission. If you require further information please contact Peter McGovern at (613) 995-2194, or by fax at (613) 996-3406.
I look forward to your response and hope that you will discover the positive impact that being a member of this mission can have on your business activities.
Yours sincerely,
Hon. Sergio Marchi
