DISTRICT 7 EDITORIAL, FALL 1999

After an active summer in Cote Saint Luc, I look forward to the upcoming season with excitement and vigor. This summer as Chairman of the Pool Committee, I worked closely with Louise Ferland and Paul Desbarets of the recreation department to improve the service offered to our residents. We must be thankful to have some of the best City staff imaginable. I would like to thank our recreation department and Pool Staff including Pool Manager Cornelia Ziga and Assistant Manager Claudia Pittarelli for the outstanding job done.

This year with the support of Guy Poirier of our Public Works Department we extended the Fence at the Pool creating a much larger green space and more shade from mature existing trees. To respond to constituent concerns we purchased lane ropes to allow free swim and adult swim at the same time by dividing the Pool at certain times. Our Fun Weekend was a great success as always, with contests, games, prizes and a great big slide for all to enjoy. In addition the little ones had a water carpet to try to walk on water in the shallow end.

In an effort to further improve the service of our Pool, your City Council has taken the decision to open the pool in early June next year giving our residents more of an opportunity to use this wonderful facility.

I am also particulary pleased to see the opening of our Dog Run, which is close to my home where I have observed the daily increase in it's use. Many of my constituents have looked forward to this day and it is wonderful to see it's establishment.

As co-chairman of the Twin City Committee it was a pleasure welcoming the Mayor of Ashkelon to our city this summer. We are planning further initiatives to bring our cities closer and to learn from each other as well as to twin with other cities, nationally and internationally.

In closing my wife Elaine, sons Andrew and Matthew and daughter Marlee join me in wishing you all a healthy and safe return to school, and work after this vacation period. To my Jewish constituents Shana Tova, Happy New Year.

Your input is vital and I have enjoyed hearing from so many of you over the years. I look forward to continuing our special relationship. Please call me any time at 939-9559 ext 202 or email me at brownstein@videotron.ca.
