DISTRICT 7: COTE SAINT LUC COURIER EDITORIAL
Going into my 9th year as your city councillor, I am renewed with a feeling of excitement and energy as our new Mayor and dynamic young Council moves into the next Millenium. I could not of hoped for a better team of devouted fellow members of Council to participate with, in this new chapter in the life of Cote Saint Luc.
Prior to the 1995 Referendum I was in favor of passing a "STAYING CANADIAN" resolution which I re-introduced in October 1996 and which was passed unanimously by your Council and was followed by more than 40 cities in Quebec and has been a contributing factor towards the Federal Governments new pro-active approach to National Unity. I am certain that with Robert Libman as our Mayor Cote Saint Luc will continue to be at the forefront on all issues of Canadian Unity.
Our district is a dynamic one, with growing institutions including the Or Hahayim Synagogue, The Hebrew Academy, Ecole Maimonides and Saint Richard's Church.
I am always particulary proud of the way in which our neighbours take care of the appearance of their homes in our city. This summer the flowers at the homes in our district were really exceptional and many of you won Ville Fleuries awards as a result. Special recognition must go to St. Richard's Church, Nancy and Fred Fitzhugh of Chamberland Crescent, Hannah Sheffren of Parkhaven, Segalit and Max Laredo of Emerson, and to first prise winner Babbi Davidovich of Redwood.
I also would like to extend my best wishes and support to the Ouaknine family on Guelph who are in the process of rebuilding their home after suffering one of the worst house fires in our city.
Your input is vital and I have enjoyed hearing from so many of you over the years. I look forward to continuing our special relationship. Please call me any time at 939-9559 ext 202 or email me at brownstein@videotron.ca.
