LAWYERS MAKING A DIFFERENCE
That's right! Lawyers with a conscience and the time to do the right thing. Herbert and Mitchell Brownstein, 35 and 32 respectively, have been devoting time to the Montreal Jewish community for years. Both are committed to Montreal and to continuing to build their lives with their families in Dollard-Des-Ormeaux.
Herbert is president of B'nai Brith Mount Royal Lodge, the largest chapter of B'nai Brith in Quebec. One of the many projects the lodge and Herbert have been actively involved in has been helping newly arrived Soviet Jews, by both making them feel welcome, and helping in the processing of their files.
Mitchell, Cote St-Luc City Councillor, was a recent participant on the CJC's Mission to Poland commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. As a result of Mitchell's experience in Poland, an initiative is now under way to name a Cote St-Luc street in honour of the heroes of the Uprising.
