As an immigration attorney, with a head office in Montreal, Canada, the Emigration 96 Exhibition at Olympia was an excellent opportunity for us to meet over 3,000 visitors and respond to their immigration queries and concerns.
Representatives from embassies and high commissions from the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, as well as property consultants, immigration attorneys, job search specialists, relocation experts and removal companies were there to answer the questions of people eager to find out about their overseas prospects.
Most individuals attending the seminar were eligible for immigration to Canada based on the Independent Category, meaning that they had sufficient work experience and education in an occupation deemed to be in demand under the Canadian Occupation List.
Exhibition goers included a number of self-employed and business applicants wishing to set up similar businesses or invest under the Investor Program in Canada. Students interested in pursuing their studies at Canadian Universities also took advantage of the event.
We provided over 400 free detailed assessments of clients' potential eligibility for immigration to Canada. Those who were eligible were offered the opportunity to pursue their application further by submitting a completed questionnaire with all support documents for final review and acceptance.
The procedure to follow would then be to submit the application to either the Canadian High Commission or Quebec Delegation depending on the desired province of residency. In certain cases, an application with support documents and reference letters reflecting work experience deemed to be in demand would result in the interview being waived and approval in principal, subject to security and medical clearance only.
Where interviews are required, the applicant should be prepared to answer all relevant questions concerning their work experience, education and reasons for immigration to Canada, among other factors.
