Dear Mr. Brownstein:

Ref. Team Canada 1997 Mission to Korea, the Philippines and Thailand,
January 8-20, 1997

Further to your receipt of the "Team Canada 1997 Confirmation Package" despatched by our Task Force, I wish to take this opportunity to inform you of specific events planned during the Team Canada 1997 Mission to Korea, the Philippines and Thailand, to which you are invited in your capacity as a "young entrepreneur/young business person" in the Canadian business delegation.

Participation at these events is an added feature to the business programmes planned at each Team Canada 1997 destination at which, as an accredited business delegate, you will participate fully.

The Prime Minister, Premiers, Territorial Leaders and Cabinet Ministers who will be leading the Team Canada 1997 Mission have expressed keen interest in hearing the views of young Canadian business people active in Asian markets, and we have organized events during the programme to facilitate such dialogue.

Two (2) informal meetings for young entrepreneurs and the Prime Minister, Premiers, Territorial Leaders and Cabinet Ministers will be organized during the mission. Details concerning these events are noted below, for your information.

The informal meetings, which will take place at the beginning, and conclusion of the Team Canada 1997 programmes, will provide a forum for raising with the Prime Minister, Premiers and other political leaders, any issues of interest to young Canadian entrepreneurs and business people arising from participation in the mission.

You will be joined at these meetings by other young Canadian entrepreneurs, business people and business students resident in these markets, whose views, we believe, will also add significantly to discussion with our national political leaders. Their participation will also provide you with an opportunity to learn, firsthand, of the prospects and challenges of doing business in these markets, as well as chance to network with your contemporaries.

I hope that you will be able to join us for these unique meetings during the Team Canada 1997 mission. Should you have any specific questions concerning these events, please do not hesitate to contact me prior to departure at 613-944-1233 in Ottawa. Please note that a Team Canada Business Centre will be operational at each business delegation hotel (Grand Hyatt in Seoul; Shangri-La in Manila and Royal Orchid Sheraton and Marriott Royal Gardens in Bangkok); should you require amy additional information concerning these events on-site.

I look forward to meeting you during the Team Canada 1997 mission.

Yours sincerely,

G.E. Rishchynski
Director
Team Canada 1997 Task Force
